Award-winning The Oyster Box is a Durban landmark established in 1947. Located on Umhlanga’s smart beachfront opposite the iconic Umhlanga Lighthouse, The Oyster Box has direct beach access from the hotel and panoramic views over the glorious Indian Ocean.

There are 86 luxurious rooms, suites and villas to choose from. The Sea Facing Deluxe Suite is a glamorous choice with private terraces and tiled plunge pool. The Garden Villas, decorated with striking botanical prints, can be combined with Loft Rooms for families.

Dining choices are aplenty, the old-world chic Grill Room is presided over by indomitable Maître‘d Hendry Pakiri and has seen many famous faces pass though. Signature touches include the 1920’s Hors d’ Oeuvres Trolley. Other options include the exciting Chef’s Table and bistro cuisine with a view on The Ocean Terrace Restaurant.

Nearby attractions include Gateway Theatre of Shopping, Ushaka Marine World, the historical Natal Midlands and majestic Drakensberg Mountains, as well as superb ‘big 5’ game parks, lodges and historical battlefields.
