Villa Batu Jimbar
Seminyak, Bali
Villa Batu Jimbar is one of the most extraordinary luxury villas in Bali. Located in Sanur on the south-eastern peninsula of the island, it has the option to be rented as either a six suite or eight suite private villa. Set right on the beach but cushioned within the Batujimbar Estate, the villa is peaceful and private yet close to Bali’s most desirable restaurants and attractions. The estate is spread over 1 hectare of beautiful landscaped gardens and ponds. Facilities include a tennis court, a large swimming pool, an air-conditioned gym and a special in-house museum with a unique art collection. The property is filled with Balinese artefacts and was built using traditional materials like bamboo, alang-alang thatching and stone walls with carvings and murals.
Villa Batu Jimbar has a fascinating architectural history... Inspired by the nineteenth century palaces at Klungkung and Amlapura, the estate was originally created by Donald Friend, one of Australia’s most important artists. Designed in typical Balinese style, it has a number of separate buildings to make the most of the tropical breeze and bring the outside in. Over the years the villa has been further added to by Sri Lanka’s most famous architect, Geoffrey Bawa, as well as Ed Tuttle, the famous Aman Resorts architect who refurbished the property during the period that Aman’s founder Adrian Zecha owned the estate.
Travelling is like flirting with life. It's like saying, 'I would stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station.
