The Mekong is the seventh longest river in Asia flowing through Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Historically it has been a major trade route, a natural border and a cultural melting pot for the region. This relaxed journey combines the fascinating natural and historical highlights along its banks in the three countries. Highlights of the itinerary include a cruise from Chiang Rai to Laos, the beautiful town of Luang Prabang with ancient temples and saffron robed monks, exploration of the Four Thousand Island area where you might spot one of the endangered Irrawaddy river dolphins and a visit to the astounding archaeological site of Angkor Wat. After a night in Phnom Penh, travel south by speedboat across the border into Vietnam and end the trip relaxing in the delta where the Mekong reaches the South China Sea. This luxury tour is purely a suggested itinerary. It can be booked as is or alternatively used as a starting point for creating your own ideal bespoke holiday to the Mekong River and South East Asia.
