Gyantse
Gyangtse, located in the Nyang-chu Valley, is famed for its stupa - the largest and most impressive in all of Tibet. Gyangtse lies at the crossroads of trade routes between Lhasa and Shigatse and, as such, is an important stopover point. Gyangtse is a charming town with interesting sights nearby; the 14th century fort is well worth a visit and gives magnificent views of the surrounding valley.
