Knuckles Mountain Range
Knuckles Mountain Range is a conservation area that stretches 155 square kilometres, just one hour south of Kandy. Located right in the heart of Sri Lanka, the area is formed of an impressive array of forests, endemic flora and fauna and breathtaking mountain scenery. Knuckles provides the perfect opportunity to those who love to hike, mountain bike or explore local villages and discover waterfalls. Also within the range are endemic species such as the marbled cliff ford – nannophrys mamorata and the ceretphora tennenti lizard, which are only found in this area. There is also a wide range of mammals found amongst the forests including elephants, giant squirrels and leopards.
