Mrauk U
Mrauk U lies in the far west of the country, a 40 mile boat ride from Sittwe. It is the country's second most famous archaeological site behind Bagan, and the temples are, on the whole, smaller and younger. As only approximately 4,000 visitors come here every year, it remains unspoilt and undiscovered to the masses. The best experiences to be had here would be to wonder around the temples at sunrise or sunset and mingle with local farmers who remain very much a part of the temple area.
