Opened in 2011, Lakshman Sagar is a hidden gem of a hotel, located in a remote rural setting between Jaipur and Jodhpur.

Set up with a ‘Zero Kilometre’ concept, everything found in the 12 small cottages has been sourced within from the local vicinity. This original idea, alongside a variety of bespoke village-theme activities, allows guests to really experience numerous aspects of traditional Rajasthani village life.

Choose between a great selection of local experiences while staying in this hotel, from learning about milking techniques at the nearby dairy to visiting the village school, and having henna traditionally applied by local women. Guided nature walks and stargazing are arguably our favourite activities on offer here and mean that you make the most of the wonderful serene setting.

Each cottage faces the scenic lake and comes with a refreshing and private plunge pool; a perfect place to relax and enjoy the view while admiring the beautiful birds flitting about nearby. The interiors of the public areas and the cottages are done up in a brightly coloured quirky style, which manages to encapsulate both Rajasthani culture with a more modern boutique aesthetic. The overall effect is wonderfully ‘shabby-chic’ and breathes a lively yet cosy atmosphere.

Enjoy home-cooked meals, all made with organic locally-sourced ingredients, and be sure to take a swim in the innovative rock-face style swimming pool here, which is a sight to behold in itself. We recommend taking a dip as the sun is setting for an especially magical panoramic view over the hilly desert plains, while keeping an eye out for pretty peacocks and antelopes that can be seen dotted around. Or, enjoy the spectacular sunset with a cocktail in hand from the rooftop atop the Zanana tower - another huge plus of this striking property.
