For sake of ease on this website we have split India into two areas: the north and the south using Mumbai as the dividing line.
Best Time to Visit With the exception of the Himalayas the best time to visit is from September to mid April. Though the season has now extended due to the dramatic improvement in hotels, roads and transports which allow for comfortable travel throughout the year.
The Himalayas are best from February – May and from September – November. Though areas such as Ladakh on the Himalayan plateau are best from mid April – mid October.
Visa Requirements All non-residents require visas for India, which must be obtained prior to departure. Tourist visas for British passport holders are usually valid for 6 months from the date of issue and currently cost £30.00 per person. Passports must have at least 2 blank pages and be valid for 6 months after your return from India.
