Bandipur National Park

Established in 1974 as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger, Bandipur is located in the south Indian state of Karnataka, an area which was once a private hunting reserve for the Maharaja of the Kingdom of Mysore. Bandipur National Park is home to some of India’s most endangered species of wildlife and while its most famous residents are the tiger, it is also home to sambar, mouse deer, four-horned antelopes, sloth bears, panthers, peacocks and jungle fowl. Watered by 4 rivers – the Moyar, Kabini Moolehole and Nugu – Bandipur is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with rolling hills, dales and bamboo forest.
