Toka Leya
Victoria Falls (Zambia)

Opened in 2008, Toka Leya Camp, on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, is an ideal luxury base for families or couples at the start or end of their safari. It has 12 spacious climate-controlled safari tents with wooden floors, leather sofas, four poster beds and large outdoor decks with seating and indulgent outdoor bathtubs. Three of the tents are ‘Family Tents’, containing 2 bedrooms. The camp’s tents are all connected by wooden walkways which snake towards the main area, which includes a dining area, lounge, bar and a pretty riverside infinity pool. There is also a riverside campfire, a curio shop and a small spa to unwind post-safari.

Toka Leya Camp is a 20-minute drive from Livingstone and just 6km upstream from Victoria Falls. A must-do activity is a guided tour of these majestic Falls from the Zambian side, with a dip into Devil’s Pool (if you dare!), a 167m high natural rock pool. Guests can also take a sunset cruise along the Zambezi and view hippo, elephant and hippo along the way, as well as game drives through Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park to spot wildlife such as rhino, giraffe and buffalo. Other activities include elephant-back rides, helicopter flights, micro-lighting, white water rafting, fishing, canoeing and jet boating. Being so close to Livingstone makes Toka Leya Camp a great base for heritage tours to Livingstone town and its museum. However, for people wanting to simply wind down and relax, or if the kids are too tired for the early safari starts, there is lots of wildlife to be seen from camp.
