County Wexford

Located in Ireland’s ‘Sunny South East’, lies the low lying fertile land of County Wexford, where gentle agricultural land meets a rich maritime heritage. With a higher than average temperature and more hours of sunshine than anywhere else on the island, Wexford is one of Ireland’s most sought-after locations. With glorious beaches and idyllic coastal towns and villages, there is a huge draw for locals and holidaymakers alike, particularly for the lovers of water sports, with windsurfing, sailing and kayaking throughout the year. The Hook Lighthouse, at the tip of Hook Peninsular, is the oldest operating lighthouse in Ireland, and one of the oldest in the world, having been built nearly 800 years ago. The main town of Wexford was established by Viking settlers in 850 AD as a key nautical port, and today Rosslare Harbour is one of the main entry points to Ireland with ferry crossings from mainland Europe and England.
