Ellie is half French, half English and was born while her parents lived in the Middle East. She was lucky enough to have a nomadic childhood being brought up in Russia, Oman, Holland, Turkey and France, giving her a window into different languages, cultures and lifestyles. Following her studies at both Durham and Cardiff universities, gap year travels, work trips and holidays allowed her to rapidly tick countries off her list.
Ellie started at Ampersand in 2012 with an epic three-week trip around Rajasthan, and thus started her great love of India (she is in the process of planning her ninth trip!). She fell in love with the country’s rich art and architecture, which inspired her to pursue further study in the form of an MA in Indian Art History and Architecture at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. Ellie has covered almost the entirety of Asia on her travels; Cambodia is another of her favourites, and she would return in a heartbeat, despite having been three times already! China is one of the most fascinating countries she’s ever visited, and for a relaxing holiday with a sprinkling of culture, she recommends Sri Lanka.
