Camp Xakanaxa
Moremi

Xakanaxa is ideally situated in big game territory, in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve and on the banks of the Khwai River. The wildlife at Moremi is accepted as being some of the best in the safari world and nothing prepares for the excitement of seeing lion, buffalo and elephant in such high numbers or concentration. The camp accommodates just 24 guests in 12 light and airy, spacious and enchanting safari tents with en-suite shower rooms. Situated around the fringe of the lagoon, every tent has a private viewing deck with comfortable loungers.

The delightful main buildings extend over the Khwai River and are set on raised platforms to maximize the views over the surrounding lagoons and islands. The elegant lounge and dining rooms, built of local timber, reed and thatch, feature a small library, large sundeck, plunge pool and sala with day bed. The fire-deck extends over the Khwai River and creates an enchanting environment in which to relax after dinner.

Drives take place just after dawn and at sunset. Open Land Rovers with a seating capacity for 10 passengers are used for the drives. Only 6 to 8 guests are accommodated in each vehicle at any time, allowing plenty of space and excellent viewing. There is also boating available all year round.

Getting to Amanpulo from Manila was very simple and the beach was the most beautiful I’d ever been on; pristine white sand, not a single piece of rubbish in sight. You get your own solar powered golf buggy to drive around resort (and a butler at request). The views from the Hillside Casita were spectacular!
