Chobe Game Lodge
Chobe and Savute
This iconic lodge in the Chobe National Park, was the venue for the marriage between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton (2nd time we believe!) and to this day, remains one of the grand dames of Botswana’s safari world. Graceful high arches, quarry tiled floors and barrel vaulted ceilings create an atmosphere of cool tranquillity. Chobe Game Lodge remains the only private game lodge in the region, which makes it very popular for those wishing to experience this area so abundant in wildlife. Other facilities include a large swimming pool with terrace, a riverside boma area, a stylish bar with an outside terrace, an expansive deck offering magnificent views over the Chobe River and conference facilities for business travellers. All meals are catered for in various locations throughout the lodge, including the terrace, boma and riverfront deck.
Each of Chobe Game Lodge's 4 luxury suites has an individual plunge pool set on a private terrace with breath-taking panoramic views of the endless open plains. All 46 river facing rooms are tastefully furnished, each room with hand crafted Rhodesian teak furniture and walls decorated with original African carvings and paintings.
Safaris from Chobe Game Lodge are a grand affair, taken either in 4 x 4 vehicles along the Chobe River or on the specially adapted river cruise boats. There are electric game viewing vehicles within the fleet as well as a few electric boats for silent sailing on the magnificent Chobe River. Chobe Game Lodge also boasts the only all-female team of professional guides in Africa. Witness the huge herds of elephants both in and out of the water. The park is also home to a healthy number of lions, giraffe and plenty of antelope species.
