Classic South Africa: A Wildlife & Wine Lovers' Tour
15 days from £7,460 for 2024 per person
If you want to soak up the most spectacular stretch of South Africa’s coastline and spot the Big Five in the bush, but also enjoy top-notch luxury, fine food and delectable wines, this classic South African itinerary is a perfect fit. It offers all the highlights – cosmopolitan Cape Town, the pretty garden route and the world-famous Kruger – all bound together with luxurious stays in lavish hotels.
Start your trip in the buzzy hub of Cape Town. Explore the area with your expert guide – amble through Cape Town’s famous heritage sites and architectural wonders, take a cable car up to Table Mountain and explore Bo-Kaap, the old Muslim settlement with its charming colourful houses and cobbled streets. Head out to Cape Point and The Peninsula to visit Camps Bay and the Boulders Penguin Colony, and soak up the area's pristine beaches, towering cliffs and quaint seaside towns.
After an action packed few days in Cape Town head to the peaceful village of Franschhoek and stay at refined boutique farm house, 7 Koppies, deep in the heart of the Winelands. Here you can explore the oldest wine industry outside of Europe with vineyard tours, wine tastings and wine-paired fine dining.
It's back to the beach for your next few stops, resting your head at two beautifully restorative beachfront properties, edged by the verdant hills of the garden route. Enjoy stunning seascapes and spot whales at Hermanus and tuck in to mountains of seafood at foodie destination Plettenberg.
Then your tour turns inland towards the famed scrubs, savannahs and watering holes of the world-class Kruger National Park. Your safari will focus on the exclusive area of Sabi Sands, where only those staying within it can view game. Big Five sightings are consistent and after a rewarding day's safari you can relax at Chitwa Chitwa, Sabi Sands, where your suite comes with plunge pool, free-standing tub and timber game-viewing deck.
