The Ultimate Walking Safari Exploring Zimbabwe's Wilderness

13 days from £6,650 for 2024 per person
Walking safaris are the most unique way to discover the African landscape; with the fragile ecosystem underfoot walking helps you to better understand and connect with the land. In Mana Pools walking is the best way to experience the land as 70% of the park is only accessible by foot.
The itinerary begins at the beautiful Kanga Camp, located in one of the most remote parts of Mana Pools National Park. Just inland of the river, is set on a permanent water pan, drawing in a number of animals right up to the camp. Use this camp as a base to explore the vlei lines, floodplains and Mana Pools hideaways. From Kanga Camp the itinerary continues to the exceptional mobile tented safari experience with Zambezi Expeditions, camping alongside Zambezi river, one of the most magnificent settings in Mana Pools. As you take a walking safari along the river banks you will discover the wonders of nature up close, from the insects and waterbirds to the wild dogs and mighty elephants that roam the valley. At night, you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the flowing river and the snores of the hippos. At dawn your natural alarm clock will be the chorus of birds against a backdrop of a spectacular African sunrise. Onwards with your journey to Nyamatusi Camp, one of the newest camps in the area. Wild, remote and set on the banks of one of the Zambezi River, Nyamatusi allows you to experience an authentic Africa from a bygone era.
From Mana Pools you will travel to the mighty Lake Kariba, one of the four largest manmade lakes on Earth and the second largest in Africa. Perched on the hills above Lake Kariba is Bumi Hills and beautiful infinity pool taking centre stage, seamlessly blending into the lake’s horizon. This is the perfect spot to take in the views below whilst slowly sipping sundowners after an adventurous day spent in the bush. Across the border in Zambia, Thorntree River Lodge is the final destination and the perfect place to complete your safari. Discover mighty Victoria Falls, aptly named “the smoke that thunders”, walk with the rhinos in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, or simply relax and unwind at the spa.
