Mowani Mountain Camp
Damaraland
The unashamedly beautiful Mowani Mountain Camp is located in Namibia’s Damaraland region in between Namibia’s Ugab and the Huab Rivers. Blending seamlessly amongst large granite boulders, the camp enjoys jaw-dropping views over the plains and mountains beyond. The swimming pool, dining and sitting areas are all lavish, light and airy and are cleverly designed to blend into the granite boulders whilst providing every comfort you would expect from a 5 star hotel.
Mowani’s 15 canvas and thatched rooms and suites are split into 6 different categories. They are all delightfully decorated with bright colours and individually styled carved wooden furniture. The 4 ‘Superior View’ rooms, as the name suggests, are on the perimeter of the camp and boast eye-popping views of Damaraland. The 5 ‘Standard View’ rooms are built lower down overlooking the boulders and the ‘Luxury Room’ has a huge wooden deck. The ‘Mini Suite’ and the ‘Mountain Suite’, both have their own lounges and butler service making these an ideal spot for honeymooners. The piece de resistance at Mowani is the sundowner spot where you can sit and enjoy a glass of bubbly overlooking dramatic views over magical desert landscape.
Activities at Mowani Mountain Camp include nature drives or guided walks to the nearby famous rock Art at Twyfelfontein. There is a fantastic variety of desert game in the area including the endangered black rhino, mountain zebra, springbok and klipspringer. Hot-air balloon trips over the Aba-Huab Valley or champagne breakfasts are also available.
I travel a lot; I hate having my life disrupted by routine.
