This innovative set-up in 33,000 acres in the heart of the Kruger National Park is deeply inspiring. Singita Lebombo Lodge is nestled in pristine wilderness where a unique wildlife population thrives across four distinct eco-zones. Its motto is to ‘touch the earth lightly’ and conservation and sustainability are taken seriously here along with impeccable service (the staff are mainly local). Lebombo is a boldly contemporary design, comprising 13 suites suspended above the N’Wanetsi River. The rooms are thoughtfully equipped with Dermalogica toiletries, sunscreen, and a safari bag complete scarves and poncho. Sleep outside on deck under a draping net and be serenaded by the sounds of the bush. Enjoy the front-row seats to the teeming animal life found here. Look out for white lions, cheetahs and roving elephants as well as birds such as Tawny Eagles.

The food is Michelin quality with a welcome focus on tapas-style servings – elegantly light and utterly delicious, served with a sensational South African wine list. Highly recommended for both novice and experienced safari lovers.
