Sindabezi Island
Victoria Falls (Zambia)
Sindabezi Island is the little sister property to Tongabezi Lodge, located on a speck of an island in the middle of the Zambezi River, a few kilometres downstream from Tongabezi. It has five open-sided thatch-roof cottages opening out onto the river, each containing beautiful four-poster beds, private decks with hammocks, and bathrooms with copper sinks and piping hot water. The camp is reached by boat and run by solar-power, with no wifi or tv.
This place is all about the majesty of nature and it will transport you to another era of safari of civilised elegance in an off-the-grid setting and a wildly romantic atmosphere. Days are spent watching hippos float past, reading books in your hammock, taking fishing trips or enjoying private picnics on the Zambezi. Dinner is by candlelight and food is surprisingly gourmet, considering the setting. Sindabezi is a fantastic add-on for a couple of nights if staying at Tongabezi Lodge and there are special rates for this. Sindabezi can also be hired out exclusively for a small group.
If you think you are too small to make a difference, you haven’t spent a night with a mosquito.
