Victoria Falls River Lodge
Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
The first privately owned lodge situated in the Zambezi National Park, the Victoria Falls River Lodge offers exceptional game viewing opportunities as well as ample opportunity to visit the magnificent Victoria Falls, which is mere minutes downstream.
Eight Luxury Tents and five Family Suites are laid out along the riverbank on either side of the lodge’s breezy central dining area. These huge and contemporary styled thatched “tents” are actually solid structures covered with canvas and contain sliding glass windows, stand-alone bathtubs, outdoor showers and private decks, each with their own private pool overlooking the Zambezi. Luxury Tents sleep 2 people and the Family Suites sleep up to 5 people (2 adults and 3 children) in a King size 4-poster bed, and a bunk bed and a small single bed in an adjoining tented room.
This is an ultra-relaxing lodge and the main communal area is perfect for sitting out on the deck to absorb the surrounding nature, or you can enjoy some private game-viewing from their secluded tree hide. Elephants and hippos wander through camp and swim in the river, while resident wart hogs act as lawn mowers. See the spray and hear the distant roar of the "smoke that thunders" from the main deck as well as from your private deck as you admire the birdlife and take in the wondrous African sunset. Whether you want to go on game drives, night drives or walking safaris, or spend your days fishing, canoeing or cruising gently along the river or upping the adrenaline with adventure sports at Victoria Falls, this is a fantastic lodge to base yourself at. To wind down, guests can treat themselves at the Toa Spa, or simply kick back at their stunning infinity pool.
For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move.
