Amankora Punakha
Punakha
Amankora Punakha is one of Ampersand's Top 10 Aman Resorts in Asia.
Amankora’s five distinct lodges, based in Thimphu, Paro, Punakha, Gangtey and Bumthang, offer a unique and unrivalled circuit through Bhutan’s valleys.
The charming Amankora Punakha lies east of the Dochu La Pass and just north of the resplendent Punakha Dzong and Puntsho Pelri Palace, which dominates the confluence of the Mo Chhu and Po Chhu rivers. The lodge is situated amidst lush rice fields and is reached by crossing a pedestrian suspension bridge over the Mo Chhu River, with stunning views of the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten.
The eight suites, located in three rammed-earth buildings, are surrounded by rice paddies and fruit plantations, and situated in an orange orchard with views across the fields to the Punakha Valley and beyond. The suites are cosy, featuring wood panelled interiors and a traditional wood burning bukhari stove.
The communal living room and dining area are located in a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse, a quaint, three-storey structure which once belonged to the queen mother. A private dinner in the queen mother's farmhouse is a must! There is also a delightful sun terrace for dining out by candlelight, or just relaxing in the pristine surroundings. Yoga, massage and a steam room in the two-storey spa are all provided to make your stay as relaxed as possible. There is also an infinity swimming pool which was added to the hotel in December 2017.
**** SPECIAL OFFER For guests staying seven nights or more, a tailor-made itinerary based on preferred length of stay will include the following on a complimentary basis: long road permits, private transport with driver and guide, plus one 60-minute massage at the Amankora spa per Amankora Journey, all offers are subject to availability****
