BATU BATU, newly-opened in March 2012, is an all-villa, boutique hotel set amongst coconut groves on the tropical, uninhabited island of Pulau Tengah, Malaysia in the South China Sea. The boutique resort is built in the Malay vernacular style using a combination of sustainably harvested tropical hard woods and glass and consists of 20 1-bedroom and two 2-bedroom luxury villas with sea views, private terraces, indoor and outdoor bathrooms, rain showers, stand alone baths, four poster beds with mosquito nets and 100 per cent cotton linen, iPod docking stations and flat screen TVs.
