Special event: 'Gourmet Journey through Southeast Asia' introduction by Diana von Cranach
Diana von Cranach, intrepid Southeast Asian 'foodie', renowned chef and hotelier, would like to introduce you to her amazing Gourmet Journey through Southeast Asia. This one-off specialist tour covering Luang Prabang, Bangkok, Singapore, Borobudur & Bali will take place from the 2nd - 18th June 2012. Diana will personally take you to her favourite locations and local markets to discover the freshest produce and exotic ingredients, which you can later prepare and enjoy together in charming and beautiful hotels that reflect the culture and artistic traditions of each country.
From the rice paddies and rustic farms, through the markets, temples and hawker stands and all the way up to a banquet table fit for a king, you will connect with the region in a way that would otherwise be impossible. With its varied cultural landscape, Southeast Asia has some of the richest culture and there is no better way to get to the core of it than through an understanding of the love, traditions and rituals of its food.

Day 1 - In Transit
Fly from London Heathrow to Bangkok via Doha with Qatar Airways.
Connect with onward flight to Luang Prabang. Met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Lunch and informal briefing at the Patio Restaurant. Afternoon at leisure. Evening traditional Baci ceremony.
Morning excursion to Kuang Si falls, with special Mekong style picnic. Sunset Mekong cruise with cocktails and canapes. Dinner at L'Elephant restaurant.
Early morning watch thousands of monks collect alms. After breakfast in the old town visit a local farmers market with Diana and Yannick, from L'Elephant. Afternoon cookery class with Yannick.
Morning at leisure. Transfer to the airport and fly to Bangkok. Afternoon free to relax or explore the local streets. A simple Thai dinner is served this evening.
Morning tour around the old city and royal palace. Later free to relax or explore. Evening private boat to the Oriental Hotel for cocktails. Dinner at the Metropolitan Hotel at David Thomson's, NAHM.
Visit the Pak Klong Talad flower, fruit and vegetable market with Diana and the chef from Chakrabongse to source ingredients for a healthy Thai lunch, an afternoon cookery class and your evening meal.
Transfer to the airport and fly to Singapore. Afternoon at leisure. Evening meal served at the New Majestic restaurant, where you'll meet the head chef.
Visit the Chinese market with Diana. Lunch is Chicken and Rice at a local hawker cafe in Chinatown. Afternoon leisure. Dinner is served at the Michelin starred Andre's Restaurant at the Chef's table.
Morning transfer to the airport and fly to Bali. Transfer over the mountains to your beach hotel, stopping for a local coffee on the way. Afternoon at leisure. Evening cocktails and BBQ on the beach.
Spend the day at leisure. Diana will give an informal talk over lunch about the locally grown rice varieties, which you'll naturally be eating. A Balinese Chicken Betutu dish is tonights dinner.
Discover the local market this morning, finding fresh produce for the evening meal and afternoon cookery class.
After breakfast drive to Singaraja, stopping at beautiful local temples on the way. Lunch is at an organic farm amongst rice paddies. Later fly to Yogyakarta and transfer to your hotel in Borobudur.
A relaxed day spent visiting local markets and witnessing local cottage food industries such as glass noodle making. Dinner is a simple Javanese meal served by candlelight.
Morning excursion for the sunrise over Borobudur. Remainder of the day at leisure, Afternoon cookery class with Diana and one of the hotel's chefs. A Royal Javanese dinner forms the evening meal.
Day 16 - In Transit
After breakfast transfer to Solo. Lunch is at Wong Solo, the most famous restaurant in town. Fly to Singapore and transfer to your hotel (day room). Farewell dinner at Ember, then return to the UK.
Day 17 - In Transit
Arrive back in the UK just before lunch. What a journey!
