NEW: Tailor-made London walking tours
We would like to thank the marvellous Gavin Webb (a veritable fountain of fun facts on every conceivable London-related subject) for taking the Ampersand team on a fascinating tour of the City of London. Gavin is our Blue Badge-accredited London tour guide and he can take Ampersand clients on tours tailored to their particular interests, from London’s literary legends to its varied multicultural neighbourhoods and striking architecture. Spotlighted districts include the City, Docklands, Westminster, East End and Spitalfields, Chelsea, Kensington and Hampstead. Gavin spent 20 years working in Asset Management in the City, but for the last 10 years he has provided the most wonderful walking tours of London. In his time off he can be found in London’s museums and libraries topping up his already vast academic knowledge of historic, cultural, architectural and arty topics. If you fancy getting out of the Big Smoke, he can also accompany you on day trips to pretty and historic spots like Bath, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and Windsor.
There are still a few spaces left on our free Multicultural London walking tour on Saturday 2nd March 2013 at 10:00 am. Please email ellie@ampersandtravel.com to RSVP. This half day tour combines London’s fascinating multi-cultural history with some of its finest 18th century buildings. See how these houses tell the story of the Huguenot silk weavers who once worked here, stop at a stunning church and peruse the edgy fashion stores at the popular market of Spitalfields. Today the delicious smells of curry, expertly cooked by the Bangladeshi community, waft along Brick Lane, but around the corner are remnants of old Jewish London and the alleys once frequented by the notorious Jack the Ripper.
