Photoblog: Our Top 10 Highlights of Burma
“Mingalaba!” Rosie and Chloe have just returned from a particularly thorough 3-week recce of Burma. Burma is one of our favourite destinations, and for almost a decade we have been returning at least once a year to perfect our knowledge. From the temple-strewn plains of Bagan to the lucid depths of Inle Lake, the remote beauty of Mrauk U to the remarkable Shwedagon Pagoda of Yangon, they left no stone unturned. They say a picture is a thousand words, so with that in mind here are their Top 10 Highlights from their trip:
The glittering Shwedagon Pagoda, Yangon.
Shitthaung Temple, Mrauk U.
A local artisan in Mrauk U who makes the bamboo hats which are typical of the region.
The legendary temple-strewn plains of Bagan.
The majestic Ananda Temple, Bagan.
Sunset on the Irrawaddy River, Bagan.
The intricate detail of gilded lacquerware, Bagan.
Speeding across Inle Lake on a traditional Burmese long boat, Inle Lake.
