Most Romantic Cities and Luxury Hotels in Rajasthan
Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway or your dream honeymoon, Rajasthan is one of our top travel destinations for those looking for a unique luxury holiday that combines relaxation and adventure.
From majestic forts and magical palaces to beautiful lakes and golden sand dunes, every city has its own defining character steeped in history and tradition. If you can, we’d recommend visiting over Diwali (October / November) or Holi Festival (March) when Rajasthan comes alive in a kaleidoscope of colour, music and dancing, even more so than usual!
Udaipur, The City of Lakes, is arguably the most romantic and relaxing city in India. Often termed ‘Venice of the East’, this beautiful city is dotted with spectacular lakes and palaces, making it the perfect spot to spend a little time relaxing and meandering through the city’s pebbled streets and beautiful walkways. The city overlooks Lake Pichola, home to the world-famous Lake Palace which appears to float on water. For the ultimate romantic evening, enjoy a boat ride on the lake before a private dinner on a pontoon watching the sunset over the surrounding Aravali Hills.

Jaipur, or The Pink City due to its rose pink buildings, is the capital and gateway to Rajasthan, and for good reason. Home to the stunning Hawa Mahal Palace, this vibrant city offers everything from magnificent desert views and grand havelis to luxury hotels, fabulous restaurants and shopping in some of the country’s most colourful bazaars.
Our favourite hotels:
Home to the only Brahma Temple in India, Pushkar is a beautiful, laid-back city situated around a sacred lake that is one of the five holiest pilgrimages for Hindus. Around the lake, you’ll find 52 bathing ghats for Hindus to bathe in the sacred waters and every evening, an hour before sunset, everybody gathers around the lake to watch the incredible sunset with music and chanting. As well as being a great place for restaurants and shopping, Pushkar is world famous for its spectacular Camel Fair which takes place in the Hindu month of Kartika (October/November).
We recommend staying in The Orchard Pushkar.
Also known as the ‘Blue City’ for the cooling indigo-painted walls of the old town, Jodhpur is the second-largest city in Rajasthan and is home to beautiful palaces, majestic forts, scenic gardens and fascinating museums. The famous Mehrangarh Fort is definitely worth a visit, not only for its historical significance but also for the spectacular panoramic views over the city, Takhat Sagar Lake and surrounding Thar Desert.
We love:
The impressive fortified city of Jaisalmer, also known as the Golden City, is the ideal location for couples looking for adventure. Book a camel safari and spend a night in a cosy desert camp dancing with folk dancers and sleeping under the starts, before waking up to a mesmerising sunset over the Desert Nation Park.
