Whether you're seeking luxury, adventure or relaxation, these new destinations are sure to inspire your travel plans.
The Park Hyatt, Tokyo
This iconic luxury hotel, famed for its appearance in the film Lost in Translation, is undergoing a comprehensive renovation in celebration of its 30th anniversary. Originally designed by the legendary architect Dr. Kenzo Tange, the interiors were created by American designer John Morford, blending contemporary elegance with traditional Japanese aesthetics to set a new standard for urban luxury.
The current refurbishment, which began in May 2024, is being overseen by the acclaimed design agency Jouin Manku, known for their work on prestigious projects like the restoration of La Mamounia in Marrakech, Morocco. Their goal is to honour Morford's original vision while introducing a fresh, modern ambiance tailored to the expectations of today’s discerning travellers. The renovation spans all guestrooms and public spaces, aiming to elevate the guest experience by seamlessly integrating timeless design with contemporary comforts and is scheduled to reopen in October 2025. We can’t wait to see it!
A captivating fusion of tradition and innovation, Tokyo stands as the world’s largest city and one of its most exhilarating. Here, cutting-edge technology and contemporary urban design coexist harmoniously with historic temples and untouched natural beauty. From the timeless charm of Asakusa’s traditional district to Akihabara, the buzzing epicenter of Manga culture, Tokyo offers an endless array of unique neighborhoods to explore. In Shibuya, the neon-lit nightlife and the iconic ‘scramble crossing’ create an electric atmosphere, while Ginza invites visitors to experience the city’s sophistication with Michelin-starred dining, lively 'izakaya' pubs, and a warm, welcoming vibe. For art and culture enthusiasts, Roppongi is a must-visit. This vibrant entertainment district is known for its shops, bars, and restaurants, as well as the famed ‘Art Triangle’ featuring the Mori Art Museum, National Art Center, and Suntory Museum of Art.
The Oberoi Vindhyavilas, Bandhavgarh, India
Opening in December 2024, The Oberoi Vindhyavilas will be a luxurious retreat in the heart of Bandhavgarh National Park, one of India’s premier tiger reserves and located in Central India. With just 21 luxury tents, each with a private garden and individual swimming pool, this glamorous upmarket property promises an exclusive wildlife experience, paired with Oberoi’s renowned service and meticulous attention to detail. During their stay guests can dine at an open-air restaurant and swim in an infinity pool which connects with the nearby lake.
Bandhavgarh National Park, Madhya Pradesh
Tucked between the grassy maidans, the Vindhya ranges and the eastern flank of the Satpura hills, Bandhavgarh is one of India’s best national parks due to one of the highest Bengal tiger densities in the country. The park also shelters a wide range of fantastic Indian fauna, sloth bear, chinkara and the elusive Indian leopard (more than 40). In addition to wildlife, crumbling ruins are scattered throughout the park; including hill forts and shrines of Hindu gods built by Chandela Kings. The best time to visit Bandhavgarh for tiger sightings is from February to June, when you can expect a sighting within a stay of two to three days.
Aman Maldives, Vaavu Atoll, Maldives
Aman Resort’s highly anticipated resort in Vaavu Atoll, Maldives, will mark the brand’s 21st destination across the globe. This private island retreat will bring Aman's signature minimalist luxury and unparalleled privacy to one of the most pristine regions of the Indian Ocean.
The resort will have 52 standalone pavilions, each with a private pool, and 16 branded residences, designed by long-time Aman collaborator Kerry Hill Architects. The design and architecture will embrace the simplicity and beauty of the environment, taking inspiration from the white coralline beaches and clear turquoise waters for which the destination is so renowned. The property will also feature a variety of restaurants, a beach club, and an expansive spa facility including two private Spa Houses, which are a signature of the wellness-focused brand. The property will also feature a dive centre and watersport activities, for exploring the area’s pristine reefs.
Currently under construction, details about the opening date are forthcoming, but it is already generating significant excitement as Aman Resorts continues to redefine luxury travel.
Vaavu Atoll, Maldives
Vaavu Atoll is one of the most secluded and exclusive parts of the Maldives, known for its exceptional diving, natural beauty and rich culture. Located about 40 miles from the capital city of Malé, the atoll is made up of two natural atolls, Felidhu Atoll and the Vattaru Reef which is home to a wide variety of marine life, including fish, sharks, rays, and turtles. It is the smallest atoll in terms of population, but it's a popular tourist destination due to its crystal-clear waters, beautiful coral reefs, and pristine beaches. The atoll has a rich history, with several historical landmarks and monuments worth seeing, for example the Hukuru Miskiy mosque on the island of Felidhoo, which was built in the 17th century and is one of the Maldives’ oldest and most important mosques.
The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace, Khajuraho, India
Set to open in early 2025, The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace is an impressive 300-year-old hilltop palace on the outskirts of Khajuraho and Panna Tiger Reserve. With 60 rooms and villas, this palatial property offers a blend of history, culture, and wildlife and serves as an ideal base for exploring the 1,100-year-old Khajuraho temples - a UNESCO World Heritage site - and the wildlife sanctuary of Panna. The hotel is spread across 70 acres of land featuring gardens and a lake overlooked by an infinity pool, whilst the Oberoi Spa is a short boat-ride away.
Located in the culturally rich state of Madhya Pradesh in central India, the erotic temples of Khajuraho are widely acknowledged as some of the most exquisite temple art in India, with intricate carvings representing the religious and sexual tolerance of the time. Spread over 20 square km, the temples belong to two different religions – Hinduism and Jainism and were constructed from AD 950 to 1050 by the Chandela dynasty. The temples were abandoned after the demise of the Chandela regime in the 11th century and they became swallowed by the surrounding jungle until they were rediscovered by British army captain T.S. Burt in 1838. Only 22 of Khajuraho’s original 85 temples remain today.
