Our 5 Favourite Villas in Sri Lanka
Planning your next Sri Lanka villa holiday with a group of friends or family? We have access to some of the most beautiful villas in the country all with their own private chefs, butlers and housekeepers. Why not combine a tour of the island with a villa stay at the end? Our team will gladly arrange it. Below are five of our favourite villas and the reasons we love them.
A beautifully designed family-friendly villa set amongst two acres of tropical walled gardens, the property offers far-reaching views across the terrazzo pool and local paddy fields. Despite its private and secluded location, the villa is just a few minutes from some of Sri Lanka’s best beaches and only 20 minutes from numerous tourist attractions including the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Galle Fort. Featuring four stunning suites, a spacious sitting room, Lionel’s Bar and a breezy verandah, every aspect of Braganza House has been beautifully designed by the British owner and interior designer, Chloe Elkerton, founder of E&A Interiors. From authentic local signatures to Mediterranean favourites, guests will enjoy exceptional dishes cooked by the talented in-house Chef Prabath.
Located on Sri Lanka’s south coast, Ceylon House is one of three stunning villas that comprise ‘The ON Houses’ in Weligama. Nestled amongst palm and frangipani trees, this unique property offers breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, an infinity pool, direct access to a swim-friendly beach and even its own massage room. The villa comes with its own friendly team, including an in-house chef and the best massage therapist on the island! Named after Ceylon Tea, which is known for its bright and diverse palette, the design of Ceylon House is inspired by Swahili architecture, whilst the spacious interiors combine a mix of Sri Lankan antiques with soft furnishings from India and Morocco. All five en-suite bedrooms are beautifully decorated, and have their own verandah with ocean views. Topping it all off is the rooftop itself, a breezy lounge area for yoga, meditation, morning coffee, afternoon tea or dancing till dawn!
Maliga Kanda, meaning ‘Palace on the Hill,’ is an exceptional hilltop villa located just a few kilometres from Galle, and close to the beaches of the south coast, including the famous Unawatuna beach. Surrounded by beautiful gardens with trees, spices and tea plants, this unique 6-bed property offers stunning views over the jungle and paddy fields that can be enjoyed from the spacious terrace or the large saltwater swimming pool. Featuring a TV/games room, multi-sports court, fully-equipped gym and massage room, accompanied by nourishing food cooked by the exceptional in-house chef (using fresh ingredients grown on the property), Maliga Kanda hopes to offer guests a fun and relaxing experience focused on health, fun and fitness.
Located just a few km from the historic Galle Fort, Myla Beach Villa is a luxury two-storey beachfront villa with uninterrupted ocean views. The unique thoughtfully-designed interiors feature a mix of antique pieces, handmade tiles and custom-made furniture made from locally sourced materials. The four en-suite bedrooms each offer floor-to-ceiling windows and an ocean-facing balcony that overlooks the pool and beautiful sandy beach.
One of Sri Lanka’s most sought-after family villas, Skye House is a stunning two-storey villa located on one of the most desirable beaches near Galle. The property offers five en-suite bedrooms (they are all fab!) and an open-plan living space that leads out to the garden, large pool and a children’s playground. A private gate leads directly onto Habaraduwa Beach which is ideal for sunrise yoga, sunset strolls, beach barbeques and seasonally-safe swimming and boogie boarding. There is also a turtle hatchery close to the villa and on full moon, it is sometimes possible to see sea turtles come onto the beach to nest.
