The Amara II is very similar to her sister boat, the Amara I. Launched in 2008, the Amara II has 5 spacious cabins each with its own bathroom with hot showers, air-conditioning, closets, table and chairs. The boat is full of character with teak wood panelling throughout. There are communal areas, a bar and a large terraced sun deck in order to relax whilst enjoying the spectacular passing river scape. Cruises mainly go between Bagan, Mandalay and Bhamo, the most interesting part of the 2,000 km long Irrawaddy River. Most of the other boats are not able to cruise along some parts of the river that the Amara is able to access due to the shallow water.
I can't think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything.Bill Bryson
