Aureum Palace is a sprawling property of 114 rooms and villas overlooking a dreamy scene of Bagan's pagoda studded landscape, across a lotus-dappled lake. Many of the rooms and villas look out to Myanmar's magnificent temples themselves, and offer good sunrise and sunset viewing points from the wonderful balconies giving front row seats.

There are a variety of rooms on offer here, including private pool villas and duplex villas with separate bedrooms, and lounge and bar areas, catering well for families and small groups. The Island Pool Villa is particularly delightful for special occasions, accessed by a private bridge and equipped with your own pool, veranda and small dining pavilion next to the decorative ponds and ancient temples. The décor is traditional and, while not to all tastes, the rooms are quaint and cosy.

The hotel comes complete with an extensive spa, banquet facility, a fully-equipped fitness centre, a sauna, a nightclub, a viewing tower with top floor restaurant, and a huge swimming pool which has a perfectly framed view of Bagan's pagoda dotted landscape. It is located about half an hour drive away from Old Bagan and is a nice comfortable hotel to return to after visiting the temples.
