Inle Lake View Resort
Inle Lake
Inle Lake View is a stylish Burmese-French owned resort situated on the western shore of Inle Lake. This boutique hotel is surrounded by lush gardens, and neighbours a local village and monastery, where you can watch the monks collecting alms from the people early in the mornings. The resort places emphasis on natural materials throughout, while maintaining a comfortable level of luxury.
Located on a sloping bank a few short minutes’ walk from the lake, all the 40 rooms have lake views and are tastefully decorated with Burmese furniture and fixtures. The bathrooms are spacious and recently underwent renovations with the instalment of wet room style showers. An excellent restaurant, with indoor and outdoor dining, and a small bar in a wonderfully warm and cosy log cabin gives lovely options for relaxed evenings.
The spa is quaint and pretty made up of four small wooden huts circling a garden in the grounds. What's more, the resort is the proud owner of Burma's (Myanmar's) very first heated infinity swimming pool. The glistening water of the outdoor pool spans 18 metres and is surrounded by the spectacular sights and sounds of the lake. This is the ideal place to sit back with a cocktail, taking in the picturesque surroundings. Inle Lake View, being on the western side of Inle Lake, also offers views of the beautiful sunrise better than any other property in the region.
To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.
