Malikha Lodge
Putao
Malikha Lodge is the perfect introduction and final farewell to Northern Kachin State. Perched high above Burma's (Myanmar's) Nam Lang River with great views of mountains and rice terraces, it has been designed by architect Jean Michel Gathy, of Aman Resorts fame, to create a feeling of luxury and seclusion in this wilderness.
The focal point of Malikha Lodge is the main lodge, where guests come to gather around two log fires for drinks and dinner. Traditional style bungalows have been carefully placed to recreate a sense of village life in their open garden. Each bungalow has a spacious living area, which is centred around a large handcrafted teak bathtub. Placed discreetly amongst bamboo trees, one has the feeling of total privacy and relaxation. A custom made fireplace next to the bath completes the sense of indulgence and luxury, and also provides warmth for the private daybeds outside, where views of distant mountains can be enjoyed through the foliage. Daytime activities range from short jungle treks to river diving, mountain biking, scenic raft trips and kayaking. For the more adventurous, Ayeyarwaddy Expeditions offers a range of multi-day rafting and trekking excursions.
