Nestled amongst coconut palms on Myanmar's Ngapali Beach, the Sandoway Resort is a heavenly beachside oasis. The 59 rooms, villas and cottages are scattered throughout six acres of lovingly cared for tropical gardens, and all rooms have some, if not full views out to sea. The rooms have been constructed from local materials including hard wood, stone carving and marble, and have an artistic attention to detail. They are stylishly understated in design and perfectly reflect the beach location.

The large swimming pool is ideally placed amongst the palm trees, looking out to sea and next to the pool bar. The spa is a wonderful place to hide away in the heat of the day in picturesque tranquillity, and the resort's main restaurant is directly on the seafront providing panoramic views of the Bay of Bengal. It serves a wide selection of freshly caught sea food, and there is the option to dine inside or outside. The lounge bar located on the open verandah overlooks the beach and is the perfect spot for drinks watching the sunset. The resort has an extensive library and a cinema room where you can enjoy a film every evening at 9pm. Local fresh sea food restaurants are within walking distance of the resort and are very good, and so you are well located if you wish to stretch your legs and explore a little.

I can't think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything.
