The Road to Mandalay is the most comfortable and luxurious way to explore the Irrawaddy River. After being damaged in the 2008 Nargis cyclone, Belmond took a year to completely renovate and update the boat's communal areas and cabins, with an emphasis on traditional comforts combined with delightful luxuries. The 43 en-suite cabins are fully air-conditioned, and are furnished with beautiful Burmese fabrics, gleaming teak wood and jade tiles. The boat has 5 newly refurbished cabin categories (Single, Superior, Deluxe, State and Governor's Suite) spread over the 2 bottom decks. The opulent river vessel also has a spa, gym, swimming pool and piano lounge. The original antiques which are scattered throughout the boats interior are also for sale to any guest who wishes to take a little piece of Burma home with them.
