Amanfayun is one of Ampersand's Top 10 Aman Resorts in Asia.
Hangzhou has a great selection of hotels, however, in our opinion Amanfayun outdoes the rest in managing to blend luxury while truly capturing the essence and mystique of Hangzhou. It has great charm, character and is very effective in providing the romantic feeling of traditional village life in China. Situated on 14 hectares to the west of West Lake the resort is comprised of 47 dwellings surrounded by tea fields, natural forests and lush groves of bamboo. The resort features the original village Fayun layout, with a 600-metre main thoroughfare, the Fayun Pathway leading towards the beautiful and atmospheric Lingyin and Yongfu temples. Your stay includes entry to both temples outside visitor hours and both are easily reached by foot; a great plus. You will often find monks walking along this pathway, which only adds to a strong sense of place. The independent outlets in the grounds are also delightful as they are filled with local life and colour, especially the Tea House. Other restaurants along the pathway include the Steam House, Hangzhou House and the Vegetarian eatery, as well as the Aman Spa, small but well equipped gym and outdoor scenic swimming pool. Some of the 42 rooms, suites and villas date back over a century and have been reconstructed using traditional methods. Roofs are clay tile, while walls are brick, earth and lighter timber structures.
