The Opposite House
Beijing
The Opposite House is one of Ampersand's Top 10 Boutique Hotels.
Situated at the heart of Beijing in Sanlitun village, The Opposite House is a modern, design-led boutique hotel. This stunning contemporary design is inspired by traditional Chinese wood lattice and reflects the vibrant street life surrounding the hotel. The design is an extraordinary mix of old and new and is not to everyone's immediate taste. Unlike any other hotel interior the wide open lobby, which crackles with excitement, is a work of art in itself. Its well-regarded sculpture collection, inspired by the textile-clad façade of the architecture, represents the best Chinese artists of the moment. There are 98 contemporary rooms with open design, high ceilings and lots of space and natural light. Clever design and thoughtful touches mean that all needs are catered for. Wood is prominent throughout the room design and along with the under floor heating it adds overall warmth and comfort to the hotel. The studio rooms came with spa-inspired bathrooms with luxurious deep soaking oak bathtubs and rain showers. Sureno, their Mediterranean restaurant is wildly popular in town, and the Mesh bar is stylistically a joy to be in, as well as their top cocktails. Its 22m lap pool and fully equipped gym with free weights and Technogym equipment are a great place to relax and work out at the end of a busy day.
