A Family Adventure Holiday to Vietnam
14 days from £7,150 for 2024 per person
This itinerary features in our Top 10 Family Holidays.
Long, slender and S-shaped, this dynamic and varied country offers so much for families looking for an immersive and interactive holiday.
Start the journey with a blast of organised chaos in the bustling and ancient city of Hanoi, where swathes of broad tree-lined boulevards and narrow alleyways packed with goods, bind the city. Take a cyclo tour of the Old Town, a compact maze of buzzing streets dating back to the 13th century, experience a traditional water puppet show, an ancient and modest form of entertainment which has absorbed audiences for centuries, or take in a street food to discover local delicacy’s and delicious cuisine. From Hanoi drive on to Ninh Binh, which is often described as Halong Bay on land, owing to the towering limestone karst mountains. The beautiful surrounding countryside provides ample opportunity for cycling, walking and boating, and it is also home to the newly listed UNESCO Trang An grottos. Next stop is the real Halong Bay where similar limestone outcrops soar out of the morning haze. Hop aboard the luxurious Paradise Peak and explore fascinating caves, pristine beaches and picturesque floating villages. Kayaking, swimming, snorkelling and Vietnamese cooking demonstrations are also on offer.
The penultimate stop on this family adventure is a well-earned rest in Hoi An, a dreamy backwater port on the central coast. While away the days at leisure, basking in the warm sun whilst the glistening waters lap the white sand beach. There is plenty to keep the children occupied with beach activities, and a new kids club at the hotel. The final port of call will take you to a city that never sleeps, the buzzing Saigon. Board the back of a vintage Vespa for a unique guided tour of the sites and explore the fascinating Cu Chi tunnels, a network established as a means of waging guerrilla warfare. Before departing, spend a full day on the Mekong Delta, known as the ‘rice bowl’ of Vietnam and home to local floating markets and brilliant patchworks of rice paddy.
