Begin your Sri Lankan adventure in Negombo; it’s the perfect distance away from the city centre so you can relax after a long flight, but also it has easy access into Colombo to enjoy all of its main highlights. Drive into the beating cultural heart of Sri Lanka and visit some of the country’s most ancient sites; visit Ritigala, a mystically beautiful wonderland of shady forests and quiet pools, and the iconic and impressive citadel, Sigiriya, which rises out of the dense jungle.

From the Cultural Triangle you will head to the east coast, home to some of the best beaches in the country. For a chance to spot two of Sri Lanka’s spectacular Big Five mammals, the blue whale and the sperm whale, head out each morning in search of whales and dolphins. The afternoons will be spent relaxing on the golden sand beaches. For a slightly different experience, the west coast fishing village of Kalpitiya is home to fantastic whale and dolphin sightings, and is rapidly becoming a popular spot for kite surfing.
