12 days from £5,920 for 2024 per person
Combine sparkling sand dunes, secluded tented camps, sunset camel rides, impressive forts and glittering palace hotels on this romantic tailor-made tour of Rajasthan's desert landscapes.
Explore the best of Rajasthan's desert landscapes in style with this luxury tour. Our suggested itinerary starts in the Blue City of Jodhpur, with two nights at RAAS, a magical boutique hotel located in the very heart of Jodhpur's walled city. With views over the awesome Mehrangarh Fort, a relaxing spa, swimming pool and selection of heritage suites, this is the place to stay if you want to be in the heart of the action. Spend a morning zip lining around Mehrangarh Fort and an afternoon exploring the city's tempting baazars, accompanied by your private guide. From Jodhpur drive to Mihir Garh, a secluded retreat located outside the small village of Rohet. Relax by the desert-facing infinity pool, while away the hours in your private plunge pool or make the most of your surrounding landscapes on horse back or on a village safari around the nearby Bishnoi villages.
After a few days of rest and relaxation journey up to the desert town of Jaisalmer for two nights at Killa Bhawan, a heritage hotel built into the fort's walls. Watch the sunset over the city from the hotel's impressive roof terrace after a day exploring Jaisalmer's Desert Festival. The ancient city, which dates from the 12th century, can easily be explored by foot; don't miss Jaisalmer's impressive Jain temples and former palaces. After two busy days at the festival, retire to The Serai, an idyllic tented camp located in the sandunes surrounding Jaisalmer. On your first afternoon enjoy a sun downer camel ride, before returning to the camp and enjoying dinner around its open campfire. The following day make the most of the the camp's activities; enjoy a romantic picnic in the wilderness, take a jeep safari through the dunes or walk around the camp's organic vegetable garden.
Once rested and rejuvenated the tour will then take you to the Osian Camel Camp, a small and atmospheric tented camp. The following day take a camel ride around the local tribal villages, or simply soak up your surroundings by the pool. The camp is owned by the grandson of the Maharaja of Jodhpur, Reggie Singh, who you may be lucky enough to meet over cocktails at the camp's safari bar. The following morning return to Jodhpur's magnificent Umaid Bhawan Palace for your final night in style.

To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.
