Joglovina
Pemuteran, Bali
Coined one of the most beautiful villas in Bali, Villa Joglovina is an alluring and exclusive hotel that has been carefully curated out of 150 year old reclaimed Javanese joglos (traditional houses) to accommodate up to 12 guests. The grand entrance entices you into this stunning property, situated on a hill overlooking the Bali Sea, as you wander down a wooden pathway, skirting around a water lily pond into the quiet and peaceful wooden building.
The landscaped gardens and infinity pool tucked away behind the antique guesthouse are completely picturesque, making for ideal spots to relax and unwind. Each villa offers a 360 degree view of Bali’s natural beauty and polished teak floors and warm interior decors make this Javanese property homelier than you could possibly imagine. During a stay in the beautiful master bedroom, the Java stone alfresco bathtub is simply not to be missed.
An airy open dining room and adjoining kitchen welcome guests in and the chef’s home cooked food is of a great standard. Not only are all the dishes prepared daily using fresh ingredients, but the cuisine also includes both local and international influences so caters to all taste palettes. If you are after soothing treatments, then this is the place for you as in house massages practised by therapists from Lovina, Ubud or Canggu are available to book, as are yoga sessions at sunrise or sunset.
Other activities available on request at the villa, which are perhaps better suited to those seeking a faster pace as well as cultural experiences include snorkelling, scuba diving and fishing by boat. We highly recommend taking advantage of these as the crystal-clear aquamarine Bali Sea is home to some of the most vivid fish and coral around. Local beaches in Lovina are worth a visit in themselves as their black sand is a unique sight to see and if you are lucky, you may even spot dolphins leaping gracefully in the distance.
It is worth noting that Villa Joglovina has a minimum stay of three nights but these are sure to whizz past as this idyllic place has the best of both worlds in terms of blissful relaxation and action-packed experiences.
My favourite thing is to go where I've never been.
