Matahari Beach Resort & Spa
Pemuteran, Bali
Matahari is a beautiful resort which emanates its Balinese roots, yet is very grand and regal in its design. The resort is ornamented with flowers, lily ponds, Hindu statues, water features and palm trees, and friendly staff walk the grounds in colourful Balinese dress.
Set on Pemuteran beach and amongst beautiful landscaped gardens it is wonderfully located for those wanting to visit the underwater world at Menjangan National Park, just a 40 minute boat ride away around the North West coast of Bali. The resort is 21 years old and has become deeply involved in the local community, supporting three major local projects for the young, orphaned and elderly.
The resort comprises of 16 bungalows designed in the traditional Balinese style, Joglo roofs and carved intricate doorways. There are original antique rice houses in the grounds of the resort where private dinners can be held for that extra touch of authenticity. The spa is a real highlight here; you’ll feel as if you’re entering a Balinese Hindu temple to find a large lily pond and in a shaded pavilion. There’s also a private garden here with veranda and king-sized bed for romantic sleepovers; the Royal Package provides four hours of treatments and a 5-course dinner before spending the night under the stars!
My favourite thing is to go where I've never been.
