Sira Beach House
Lombok
Sira Beach House is one of our Top Ten Private Villas in Asia.
For those looking for a charming and rustic beach break Lombok is a great choice, but forget what you remember from your backpacking days – Lombok now rivals Bali for first-class style and service. The stunning Sira peninsula in the northwest of the island is home to some of the most luxurious properties in Lombok, but it still has a very sweet and untouristy vibe. Our favourite villa is the 6-bedroom Sira Beach House, which is the perfect holiday home for a group of friends or family gathering. It is fronted by a lovely beach, which is free from touts and perfectly positioned to watch the sun setting over Mount Agung volcano in Bali. For parents travelling with children, the sea here is calm for swimming and snorkelling and the villa itself was built with kids in mind and comes fully stocked with toys and fun activities.
Sleeping 12 to 14 people, Sira Beach House is made up of a series of bedrooms and thatched living pavilions surrounded by gardens, coconut palms and cabana-style dinning balais. Conceived of and designed by London-based Jane Taylor Designers and local firm, Nexus Studio, it combines modern technology with antiques and objets d'art: rustic tables, elegant colonial chairs, masks from southern India and rare Indonesian textiles – all melding together to create an atmosphere of relaxed luxury. Enjoy evening barbecues with Moroccan style seating, floor cushions and low tables or a movie night under the stars. Staff are discreet and attentive, and they have an excellent resident chef who dishes up Indonesian or Western feasts, amazing desserts and child-friendly meals. Guests can also have cookery classes in their kitchen, which is stacked full of gorgeous black earthenware dishes.
You have plenty to keep you entertained here: the beautiful Kosaido Golf Course is next door and the villa itself has a flood-lit tennis court, a croquet lawn, ping pong table, bicycles, a swimming pool and a boat for banana boating and water skiing. You can arrange to be collected by speed boat directly from the beach outside for day trips to the Gili Islands (Gili Air is just 10 minutes away, Gili Meno is 15 mins and Gili Trawangan is 20 mins) to enjoy world class scuba diving and snorkelling. These seas are renowned for their clear waters and marine life including manta ray, turtles, whales and dolphins.
