Situated at an altitude of 1,100 meters, along the ancient trading route from Nepal to Tibet, Birethanti was once a hub of activity. Whilst its significance may have dwindled since then, it is still an excellent place to explore the Modi Khola Valley and to discover rural Nepal and the lives of those who live here. Spend the day wandering through Birethanti and enjoy a cup of tea at one of its several traditional tea shops or stumble across mule trains supplying the poorly connected mountain villages with goods.
