SUJÁN Sher Bagh
Ranthambore
SUJÁN Sher Bagh is one of Ampersand's Top 10 Hotels in Rajasthan and Top 10 Safari Lodges in Asia.
Nestled on the borders of Ranthambore National Park on the Singh’s private family estate lies SUJÁN Sher Bagh, an uber-luxurious tented camp. One of the first members of Relais & Châteaux in India, Sher Bagh is globally acknowledged as the most charming and authentic place to stay in Ranthambore.
Whilst focussing on eco-friendly and sustainable practices, SUJÁN Sher Bagh transports you back to the 1920s, evoking life on safari during the heyday of the British Raj. Crackling campfires under star lit skies and naturalists to share the facts of the forest, it’s a place where comfort, style and an unmatchable commitment to conservation meet.
There are 12 air-conditioned tents; 10 luxury tents, and the hopelessly romantic Pukka Sahib and The Royal Burra Sahib suites. The former comes with a netted veranda to lounge in and its own Jacuzzi and open-air tree shower. The Burra Sahib invites you to relax under the shade of neem trees or to take a dip in the private, heated swimming pool watching the sunset. Your dedicated private butler ensures total relaxation. Each luxurious white canvas tent is grand and spacious, yet wonderfully cosy, with the comfiest beds you could imagine, heated in the winter months by a hot water bottle. They come equipped with bespoke Edwardian style furniture, enormous bathrooms with hot stone showers and beautifully embroidered interiors throughout. Guests are also given warm fleeces for the early morning game drives to keep the chills at bay.
The cuisine here combines British-Raj style lunches and traditional Indian dinners cooked on outdoor clay ovens. The organic homegrown ingredients are sourced from the kitchen garden and the Sher Bagh Farm for an entirely fresh gastronomical experience. There is also the Jungle spa which offers soothing massages to round off a day tracking wildlife in the jungle.
Sher Bagh's expert guides and trackers come with over 40 years’ experience. Their incredible knowledge of the park and the behaviour of the tiger, together with their passionate enthusiasm, make for an unparalleled wildlife experience. If seeing Asia’s most iconic cat in its natural environment is top of your list, then a trip to Sher Bagh is a must.
