Trident Agra
Agra
The little sister hotel of Oberoi Amarvilas and one of our favourites in Agra, Trident Agra is a charming boutique hotel, set amidst beautiful tropical gardens, just ten minutes’ drive away from the access point for entering the Taj Mahal by the East Gate.
Home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Agra remains a popular choice when visiting India. Set in extensive grounds in a quiet neighbourhood, the two-storey hotel is built of local red stone, reminiscent of the Mughal era and designed around a pretty central courtyard, beautiful landscaped gardens with fountains and a swimming pool – the perfect spot to relax after a busy day exploring this fascinating city. The contemporary lobby, restaurant and bar bring the hotel into the 21st century, and there is also a small spa and fitness centre. The hotel comprises of 135 spotlessly clean and comfortable rooms with good quality modern furnishings, all of which have recently been refurbished so are feeling sleek and fresh.
There are a number of dining options to choose from, and the menu always extensive, including an Italian pizza oven and traditional Rajasthani curries, south Indian options for breakfast and Hyderabadi clay-pot biryanis. Lighter bites are served in the bar with refreshing cocktails.
The service at this hotel shines above all its competitors; the staff are incredibly kind and helpful, and the ever-present general manager runs a very happy ship. There is also a concierge desk which can organise sightseeing with local guides.

I can't think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything.
