Vana is one of Ampersand's Top 10 Hotel Spas.
Vana is an incredibly impressive and idyllic wellness retreat located a short drive from Dehradun in India's northern state of Uttarakhand. Retreat itineraries explore each aspect of well-being: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual through the practice of Ayurveda, Sowa rigpa (Tibetan healing), Yoga, Natural therapies, Spa, Fitness and Aqua.
Since its opening in 2014, Ampersand has sent many clients to Vana and, remarkably, we have had a 100% repeat booking request from every one of them! In all our time working in this industry and dealing with many exceptional properties, we rarely see consistently positive feedback. From our personal experience and our clients’ feedback, Vana’s stand out feature is that everyone has unanimously been touched by the warmth, kindness and enthusiasm that the whole team have demonstrated throughout their stay – and some of our clients have stayed for 21 days. We are not aware of another retreat that offers better quality care and better value than Vana. By bringing together a variety of therapies, the retreat provides many paths to start one’s journey towards greater personal well-being. Each retreat is bespoke, curated to meet individual needs, goals, body types and preferences, starting with a consultation on arrival and continuing well after you return home.
Surrounded by clusters of reserve Sal forest, the 21-acre retreat has 82 guest rooms and suites. It has over 50 treatment and consultation rooms, an Ayurveda Centre, a Tibetan Healing Centre, two private yoga studios and one group yoga studio, a Wellness Centre, an indoor and outdoor pool, a state-of-the-art gym, spa, a private Watsu pool, two tennis courts and paths for walking within the retreat. On top of 1 to 2 private wellness sessions per day, your retreat at Vana includes all three meals, arrival and departure wellness consultations, retreat well-being activities, use of heat and wet areas, retreat attire daily and airport transfers.
Vana takes its commitment to ecology very seriously; all bed and bath linen is 100% organic, the retreat’s bottling plant saves over 100,000 plastic bottles a year and all food served is local, seasonal and organic whenever possible. Two restaurants, mindful cuisine, a juice bar, over 500 pieces of art, library, boutique, organic gardens and views of the Himalayan foothills mean that guests have access to a range of activities and facilities to enjoy outside their retreat.
Vana is a rare gem and it is a retreat we recommend wholeheartedly for clients looking for a meaningful wellness experience. The food is outstanding, and the design is stylish and minimalist. More importantly, it has the best wellness facilities we’ve ever come across with an extensive menu of holistic treatments, highly qualified specialists and kind staff.
