Elsewhere is one of Ampersand's Top 10 Beach Hotels
On a totally private spit of land overlooking the ocean, separated from the rest of the world by a salt water creek, stands 'Elsewhere - The Beach House', a simple but charming 3 bedroom Portuguese-style house located on a beach where the only other footprints to be seen are those of fishermen and turtles. 'Elsewhere' must be one of the most idyllic locations to be found. The house is built in a colourful, traditional style with thick cool walls, shuttered windows, natural flooring, and a lofty terracotta-tiled sloping roof. The furniture is an eclectic mix of traditional and rustic and each of the three double bedrooms has a door that opens directly on to a sea-facing terrace that runs around the house on two sides. There is also a delightful open sit out to watch the sea by day and the stars by night. A team of friendly staff ensure the smooth-running of this ultimate private hideaway. As the beach is one of last in Goa where turtles still come to lay eggs they actively discourage the use of sun beds and umbrellas which could damage them therefore guests need be comfortable lying on a towel on the sand.
Travelling is like flirting with life. It's like saying, 'I would stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station.
