Kahani Paradise
Goa
Along the coastline to the south of Gokarna, where the cliffs of the Western Ghat plunge into the Arabian ocean, lies the wonderful Kahani Paradise: a boutique hotel with a sophisticated atmosphere and endless panoramic vistas. The 360-degree views are truly remarkable as they overlook the jungle, the sea and the mountains beyond; plus, one can witness scenic sunrises and sunsets glowing over the ocean from both sides of the property here - a rare treat.
This spacious villa is best described as a luxurious ‘home away from home’ as it radiates a welcoming air and includes all the amenities you would expect in a high-end guesthouse. The light-filled living areas invite you in with their high ceilings, generous sizing and elegant interior design; as do the 6 spacious suites.
While each suite has its own distinct character, they all share a strong sense of place thanks to authentic Indian furniture, handcrafted doors and spectacular views of the ocean, and come complete with beautiful en-suites. Again, these bathrooms vary in style but are all just as well-appointed and tempting as each other; from azure blue-washed walls and rainfall showers to pristine white marble fittings and stand-alone bathtubs. Our favourite suites are the Peacock suite - with its impressive antique collection, the panoramic Master Suite - with its uninterrupted vistas, and the Palace Suite - with its arched architecture and intricate décor. Attention to detail features in each room, from elaborately carved wooden furnishings and silver Moroccan-style lanterns to speedy Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
The tranquillity of this secluded hotel makes it feel like a retreat. Not only does it have 20 acres of private land but it is also set among a tropical garden, which gives way to an orchard of coconut, betelnut and banana trees. A yoga instructor and masseuse are always on hand to help you unwind, and the saltwater infinity pool provides the perfect place to relax, too. Hours can easily be whiled away here, reclining under the white tented pergolas, listening to the noises of the jungle and watching the birds soar overhead.
For those tempted to explore the sprawling surroundings, there are plenty of beauty spots within easy reach of the property. We recommend visiting the aptly named Paradise beach that lies just a stone throw’s away, and makes for a great view to admire at the end of the day with a G&T in hand from the hotel’s sundowner spot – a Raj tent perched atop a peak nearby.
Back at the boutique hideaway, you will be treated to delicious cuisine of both local and international influences. We guarantee you will enjoy sitting alfresco at the huge wooden table with your fellow well-heeled travellers as the on-site chef whips up his daily menu using fresh produce from the garden and local market. The attentive service provided here is another huge plus; you can expect to be well looked after by the delightful staff here, who are always happy to help.
As Kahani Paradise was originally a family home, it works well as a private villa for large groups of friends and those with children. It is also well suited to couples and solo travellers seeking a haven in which to recuperate after enjoying a culture-packed luxury tour of India. If you're looking to escape the tourist crowds in South India, then look no further than ‘Kahani Paradise’ . In a remote spot in Goa, between Mumbai and Kerala, you will feel well and truly removed from any hustle and bustle here.
Travel is the only thing that you buy that makes you richer.
