Le Colonial
Cochin
Le Colonial is a beautifully restored building in the heart of historic Fort Cochin, next to St Francis Church. Dating back to 1506, this 16th century colonial home is now run as one of the heritage hotels in Cochin by Neemrana. Housing treasures from the colonial past, this heritage hotel revives an authentic scent of the bygone era, while the inner patio and garden pool make it distinct from the other luxury hotels in Cochin.
Over its lifetime, the building has passed hands from the Portuguese to the Dutch and British, and it is now owned by a French art collector and dealer who turned it into an art-filled heritage hotel in 2007. The eight spacious and historically themed suites are each decorated with some of his fine collection, each with an en-suite bathroom.
Le Colonial serves a range of cuisines to suit all guests, including South and North Indian dishes, as well as Continental and Oriental cuisine. The produce is fresh and sourced locally on a seasonal basis. There is also a small massage facility at Le Colonial for those looking for detoxification and rejuvenation, as well as a swimming pool.
