Mantra Koodam
Kumbakonam
Nestled in Veppathur, Kumbakonam, known for the town of 5,000 temples, lays Mantra Koodam. The property has 15 acres of gardens and with traditional Tamil cottages. These rooms are simply furnished with beautiful traditional Burmese teak doors.
Mantra Koodam offers a peaceful stay, whilst also being in an ideal location to explore the surroundings. A few of the activities that are only a step away from the hotel are: visits to the Chola temples and the bronze casting studio. The hotels style also provides a step into the past and depicts the traditions of the past that are so typical of Southern India. As you stroll and wonder around the property you will notice that bicycles and bullock carts outnumber cars. Locals will greet you with warm hospitality and smiles. Another fantastic activity is to visit the nearby weavers house where they create beautiful textiles from silk fabric by hand.
If you want to experience the traditional food of Tamil Nadu, then you will be impressed by the chefs at the Mantra Koodam. All the recipe used in the menu are handed down from generation to generation.
I can't think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything.
